Not Goodbye, But See You Later

Saturday, I attended Everest Institute 2011 graduation. I got to see some of my pharmacy tech classmates graduate and move on to bigger things. I was really proud of them because I got to see their journey during the time they were in my class. We have the greatest teacher ever, Ms. Whalen. It was really good to see her at the graduation. I've already been through the graduation thing before when I graduated from college back in 2010, but it was something emotional about this graduation ceremony. It wasn't like a regular graduation ceremony. These former students came in a all different ages and situations. It was like through the obstacles, these graduates made it. They conquered so much in life and it was so inpiring to hear their stories of their journey at Everest. I was really proud of them. However, there was one student who did not make the journey. She had passed away before she could graduate. It was emotional when her family came up and accepted her cap and gown as well as her certificate. It was nice to be apart of the graduation as an ambassador. We got to come on the stage and be introduced for our officer roles in the organization. Overall, it was a great event and I can't wait until my graduation in Feb :)

Finally Decided to Wear My Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Lipstick

As you all know, last year Nicki Minaj, along with MAC Cosmetics, created a satin lipstick titled Pink Friday, after her debut album. It was a hot seller on the website. They picked 4 Fridays in Nov, I believe, to sell the lipstick online and it sold out in like minutes. So I've been having my lipstick for a good minute but I have not worn it forreal. It practically still looks brand new. So today, I decided to put it on. Be mindful, that I did have to mix it with another lipstick color because I cannot wear Pink Friday alone. It just doesn't work for me. So I mixed it with MAC's Up The Amp lipstick and Pink Friday did keep it's color through the other lipstick. I also lined my lips with MAC's Cork lipliner. I didn't put any gloss on top. So here's what it look like.

10 YEARS 09/11/01 - 09/11/11

09/11/01 - 09/11/11 R.I.P TO THE VICTIMS. YOU ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN. GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY. UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL.

Reunited and it feels so Good

This past weekend, I was able to visit Montgomery, AL and my alma mater Alabama State University. I was so happy that I got to catch up with some of my friends, my brother, and his dog Sabastian. He got a new car too, PT Cruiser.  I didn't get to see everyone but there's always next time. The campus looks great from the new dorms, the up and coming stadium, the library, sports complex, etc.  I am so proud how much it has improved since I've graduated. Here are some pics

Medication Monday: Sustiva (HIV med: WRAP IT UP!)

Today's medication is Sustiva
Generic name: efavirenz
Classification: Protease Inhibitor (anit-viral)

Sustiva (efavirenz) is an antiviral medication that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cells from multiplying in your body.
Sustiva is used to treat HIV, which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Efavirenz is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
Sustiva may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Sustiva may cause serious psychiatric symptoms including confusion, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, aggression, extreme fear, hallucinations, or unusual behavior. Contact your doctor at once if you have any of these side effects, even if you have had them before.
Do not use Sustiva without telling your doctor if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use two forms of birth control, including a barrier form (such as a condom or diaphragm with spermicide gel) while you are taking Sustiva, and for at least 12 weeks after your treatment ends. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.
Do not take Sustiva with cisapride (Propulsid), pimozide (Orap), midazolam (Versed), triazolam (Halcion), or ergot medicines such as dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45), ergonovine (Ergotrate), ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot, Wigraine), or methylergonovine (Methergine).
These drugs can cause life-threatening side effects if you use them while you are taking Sustiva.
There are many other medicines that can interact with Sustiva, or make it less effective. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
Taking Sustiva will not prevent you from passing HIV to other people. Talk with your doctor about safe methods of preventing HIV transmission during sex. Sharing drug or medicine needles is never safe, even for a healthy person.

Do not use Sustiva if you are allergic to efavirenz, or if you are using any of the following drugs:
  • cisapride (Propulsid);
  • midazolam (Versed) or triazolam (Halcion);
  • pimozide (Orap); or
  • ergot medicine such as ergotamine (Ergomar, Ergostat, Cafergot, Ercaf, Wigraine), dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal Nasal Spray), ergonovine (Ergotrate), or methylergonovine (Methergine).
Using any of these medicines while you are taking Sustiva can cause serious medical problems or death.
If you have any of these other conditions, you may need an Sustiva dose adjustment or special tests:
  • liver disease (including hepatitis B or C);
  • high cholesterol or triglycerides; or
  • if you have ever taken delavirdine (Rescriptor) or nevirapine (Viramune) and they were not effective in treating your condition.
FDA pregnancy category D. Do not use Sustiva if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. Use two forms of birth control, including a barrier form (such as a condom or diaphragm with spermicide gel) while you are taking Sustiva, and for at least 12 weeks after your treatment ends. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. HIV can be passed to the baby if the mother is not properly treated during pregnancy. Take all of your HIV medicines as directed to control your infection while you are pregnant.

Flashback Fridays: Spring Break 2011 Panama City Beach, FL

Spring Break 2011 baby! Our memorable trip to Panama City Beach, FL on March 18-20 with thousands of other college students. I was a post graduate at the time, but this was my first spring break trip. I loved every moment of it from watching the ocean on the hotel balcony to meeting so many random people on the strip. There was never a dull moment. Hopefully, I'll be able to go back this year but then again I am planning a Las Vegas trip for my 25th birthday. So I'll worry about that bridge when I cross it. Here are some pics from the trip. Enjoy!
